T.K. Pharmacy Collection

ddr-densho-319

The T.K. Pharmacy Collection consists of letters, invoices, and other documents related to the daily business of a Japanese American owned and run pharmacy in Denver, Colorado during the 1940s. Many of the letters and orders come from Japanese and Japanese Americans incarcerated in the 10 WRA concentration camps. Requests range from sake to art supplies to medicine, all of which were hard to come by in the camps. T.K. Pharmacy was owned by Thomas K. Kobayashi and run by his brother-in-law, Yutaka "Tak" Terasaki. The contents of this collection were discovered in 2012 when Alissa and Mitch Williams renovated the building, tearing down a wall where the records had been stored for decades.
