UC Santa Barbara Japanese in America, circa early 1900s-1960s

A page from the Taenaka family photo album. Pasted on the page are thirteen photographs including the Matsui family taken in Japan. Kinoko Matsui, Takako Matsui, Matsui family's hina dolls and Gogatsu dolls, which are sets of ornamental dolls for Girls Days and Boys Day, are also included. There is also a photograph of one of the daughters of the Taenakas as well as a scenic photograph of Karenko, which is the Japanese immigrant village in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period between 1895 and 1945.
