One album of photographs and other materials associated with Corporal William Iino's military service with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in Italy and France between 1944 and 1945. The second album contains photographs and other materials associated with the 50th reunion of the 442nd RCT in Hawaii in 1993.\r\n\r\nAccession 2: This collection contains photographs and letters from Bill Iino's time in Italy and Southern France during his military service during World War II. There are also photographs from the 50th reunion of the 442nd RCT in Hawaii in 1993. There are documents from other veteran organizations.\r\n\r\nAccession 3: This collection contains photographs and letters from Bill Iino's time in France during his military service in World War II. There are also blank French postcards and Affidavit Issued by the War Department. The correspondence is between Bill Iino and Jany Lore, Gilbert and Gaby Lodin, Charley Baldi, Suzanne Baume, and Andree Julien. Bill and Jany dated between 1945-1946, and through her he met many people he maintained correspondence with while he served in Europe. Many of the letters were written to Bill in French and were translated into English as part of a student project at Northwestern University which can be viewed online at <a href=\"https://mydarlingbilly.weebly.com/\">mydarlingbilly.weebly.com/</a>.",

In 1943, volunteered for the army and joined the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, fighting in campaigns in Italy and France. After completing military service, married and went to work with wife's family in Gilroy, California. Integral in organizing ongoing reunions of 442nd veterans, and was involved in the campaign for the 442nd Regimental Combat Team to receive the Congressional Gold Medal."

Following Executive Order 9066, family was removed to the Pinedale Assembly Center, then to Tule Lake concentration camp in California. Later transferred to Minidoka concentration camp, Idaho. Volunteered as a replacement for the 100th/442nd Regimental Combat Team and trained thirteen weeks as light machine gunner replacement at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. Served with CO. L, 100th Bn/442nd Combat Team in Southern France and in Northern Italy as a rifleman 1st scout. Graduated from the University of Washington in 1950. Graduated from St. Louis School of Medicine in 1954. Internship and Resident, Pierce County Hospital, Tacoma, WA 1954-1956. Family Practice Medicine in Sumner, WA, 1956-1987. Served as president of the Puyallup Valley JACL for 2 terms. Served as Vice President National JACL from 1968-1970. Draft Board Member of the Eastern Pierce County from 1973-1976. President of Pierce County Medical Society from 1971-1972. Sumner Rotary Club President in 1971."
