"bio": "Born September 21, 1965 in Madras, India. Attended the Jakarta International School in Indonesia before moving to the United States to attend college at Georgetown University. Worked as an investment banker in New York City as well as in the management development program for Physio-Control. Currently, Pramila is the founder and Executive Director of Hate Free Zone Washington. An activist and writer, Pramila has been actively involved in international and domestic social justice issues for over 12 years, working across Africa, Asia and Latin America as well as domestically with immigrant and refugee communities in Washington state. She speaks frequently at universities and community events on issues of gender, globalization, development and community. She serves on several boards including Chaya, a non-profit organization serving South Asian women in crisis; the Institute of Current World Affairs; and Hedgebrook Women Writers Retreat. Pramila has a Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, and a B.A. from Georgetown University in English and Economics. She is also the author of Pilgrimage to India: A Woman Revisits Her Homeland (Seal Press, 2000). Pramila and HFZ Campaign have received several awards and recognitions for its work, including the City of Seattle's 2002 Civil Rights Award, the Washington Bar Association's Access to Justice Community Leadership Award, the Japanese American Citizens League Leadership Award, the Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation's Community Leaders Award, a leadership award from Congressman Jim McDermott, and the Ecumenical Leadership Award from the Washington Association of Churches. In January 2004, Pramila was named one of the top ten Puget Sound regional leaders by the Seattle Times Editorial Board."

"bio": "Nisei male. Born September 25, 1917, in Tacoma, Washington. Grew up in Tacoma except for living in Japan for several years at age four. Attended the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in Political Science, Far Eastern Studies, with a minor in journalism. Prior to World War II, worked as sports editor for community newspaper, The Japanese American Courier. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, was removed along with wife to Pinedale Assembly Center, California, and then Tule Lake concentration camp, California. Had a daughter in Tule Lake, and then moved to Minidoka concentration camp, Idaho. Recruited to work for the U.S. Army's Office of Strategic Services (OSS), was drafted, and trained in India. After the end of the war, was sent to Hiroshima, Japan, to conduct a U.S. government survey studying the effects of the atomic bomb on Japanese citizens. Returned to Seattle in 1946 and was the associate editor for another community newspaper, The Northwest Times. Worked for the Boeing Company postwar while raising a family. Was a founding member of the Seattle Nisei Veterans Committee, working on the group's newsletter for thirty years."

Recent trade talks including Shimura meeting and Japan and Dutch East Indies meetings have been focusing on extremely low and exclusion of our cotton products. Serving as the director of the two textiles industry giants in the nation, Kanebo and Toyobo, Cotton Spinners' Association Chairman Fusajiro Abe is playing a key role as the leader of the industry. Born in 1868 in the Koshu area (Shiga prefecture), he has a former family name Tsuji. Working for a kimono fabric merchant right fter his graduation from elementary school, he spend six years until age 18 to gain trading skills. He went to Tokyo with little saving to attend Azabu Junior High School, former Tokyo Eiwa School, to study business, and moved on to attend Keio University. With a help of family business, Abe Pharmaceutical Company. Recognized as a strong business leader, he served as the senior director for Kanakin Boseki Company. Upon takeover in 1914 by Osaka Boseki Company managed by late Takeo Yamanobe, he continued to serve as a senior director. Merger with Mie Boseki Company created Toyo Boseki Company, where he continued to serve as the senior director of the operation. The textiles industry was at the lowest point before the war. Abe built firm foundation by expanding the overseas trading to India, Arab and Burma, contributing to the success of the industry currently enjoys. Promoted to be the Chief Executive Officer in 1920 and taking over the position of the late Tsunezo Saito 15 years ago, he is still serving as the Chief Officer. He also founded Showa Rayon in 1928, as well as Karafuto Kogyo Company with Heizaburo Okawa. Upon merger by Oji Paper Company, he remained as a director and a representative of the Kansai region. Abe also founded Kosho Company to expand cotton import and cotton product export, and his contribution to both textiles and paper industry of the nation is remarkable. Despite the common notion of Koshu natives as unfair business people, he is well-liked and patient. With his mild manner, confrontation is not an issue for this Koshu man. He has quiet leadership with his ability to make slow and steady progress. He was the first investor to take responsibility, compose recovery program and offer private fund when Omi Bank collapsed with frenzy economy in 1927. Displeased with the result of the Japan India Talk, Abe gave up his seat as the chairperson of Dainihon Cotton Spinners' Association Chairman, and Tsuda from Kanebo assumed the position, indicating strong leadership and trust Abe still demonstrates.\"",
