"description": "Envelope addressed to Dr. Kei Koyama at Missoula from an unknown sender (possibly the Andrew and Eva Goodenoughs). Postmarked January 19, 1942. Purple \"CENSORED\" stamp on the lower left side of the envelope. On the back of the envelope “Goodenough” is written in pencil. Letter dated Jan 18, 1942, with a return address in Portland from \"Uncle Chape and Aunt Eva.\" In the middle of the letter is a purple \"Censored\" stamp. In the letter they talk about the 14 years the two families have known each other, and that they still love Kei and the Koyamas as family. They pray often for him and hope that he finds solace in God and justice. They write that Kei should not to worry about the family as many people are helping his wife Teru. They tell Kei that Chape's condition is the same.",

In place of postage “Internee of War mail/Free” is written in the upper right corner. Written on the left side of the postmark is “4/9-43” in red pencil. Along the left edge of the envelope is clear tape with the number 253 printed on it. The tape continues onto the back of the envelope and reads “EXAMINED BY.” A large purple \"RECEIVED\" stamp is on the back of the envelope dated Apr 9, 1943. Inside the envelope is a letter from Eva \"Aunt Eva\" and Andrew \"Uncle Chape\" Goodenough to Keizaburo \"Kei\" Koyama about the health of “Uncle Chape\" and the mailing of his high school, college, and dental school records. Expresses hope that everything will work out and he will be released. Letter dated Mar. 28, 1943.",

William Koyama's name is listed twice and underlined. A letter, dated Aug 30, 1942, that accompanies the newspaper clipping talks about their recent visit to the Portland Assembly Center to visit with the Koyama family. Advises that Chape is still unwell, but may get better with some warm weather. Encourages that the children will be fine since they've been raised well, and that they pray for the family and expect to hear often from Kei's wife, Teru.",
