While in Tule Lake, refused to sign the so-called \"loyalty questionnaire,\" and was confined in Tule Lake's stockade. Participated in a hunger strike, and eventually renounced U.S. citizenship. After release from Tule Lake, regained U.S. citizenship and returned to California."
