In the upper left corner is an \"EXAMINED\" stamp. The letter is brown and has a water stain along the right side. In the letter Teru updates Kei on their friends' situations in Minidoka: several had children leave for jobs outside or to join the Army. She talks about a recent drowning; she says that the body was found and expresses worry for the deceased's mother. She writes about a pain she has in her ear now, and advises Kei to save money for his trip home.","breadcrumbs":[{"id":"ddr-one-5","model":"collection","idpart":"cid","label":"5","api_url":"https://ddr.densho.org/api/0.2/ddr-one-5/","url":"https://ddr.densho.org/ddr-one-5/"},{"id":"ddr-one-5-69","model":"entity","idpart":"eid","label":"69","api_url":"https://ddr.densho.org/api/0.2/ddr-one-5-69/","url":"https://ddr.densho.org/ddr-one-5-69/"}],"_fields":["id","record_created","record_lastmod","status","public","sort","title","description","creation","location","creators","language","genre","format","extent","contributor","alternate_id","digitize_person","digitize_organization","digitize_date","credit","rights","rights_statement","topics","persons","facility","chronology","geography","parent","signature_id"],"record_created":"2015-12-29T17:20:53","record_lastmod":"2020-10-26T17:01:00","status":"completed","sort":1,"creation":"10/01/1943","location":"Minidoka, Idaho","creators":[{"namepart":"Koyama, Teru","role":"author"}],"language":["eng"],"genre":"correspondence","format":"doc","extent":"6W x 8.66H","contributor":"Japanese American Museum of Oregon","alternate_id":"2015.1","digitize_person":"Marucha, Madaline","digitize_organization":"Japanese American Museum of Oregon","digitize_date":"9/9/2015","credit":"Courtesy of the Koyama Family Collection, Japanese American Museum of Oregon","rights":"cc","topics":[{"id":"43","term":"Identity and values -- Issei"},{"id":"44","term":"Identity and values -- Nisei"},{"id":"355","term":"Industry and employment -- Dentistry"},{"id":"50","term":"World War II -- Pearl Harbor and aftermath -- Arrest, searches, and seizures"},{"id":"65","term":"World War II -- Concentration camps"},{"id":"432","term":"World War II -- U.S. Army internment camps"},{"id":"101","term":"World War II -- Leaving camp"},{"id":"396","term":"Religion and churches -- Christianity"}],"facility":[{"id":"8","term":"Minidoka"}],"search_hidden":"Koyama, Teru author","topics_id":["43","44","355","50","65","432","101","396"],"facility_id":["8"],"download_large":"ddr-one-5-69-mezzanine-05727a2edd-a.jpg"}
