Along the top 10-23-1942 is written in red pencil. On the left side of the envelope is a purple \"Censored\" stamp. Inside the envelope is a letter dated October 17, 1942. Teru writes about not wanting to return to Japan, their children (Miriam Kiyo, Eva, and William), her feelings about the status of Jews in Europe, her gratitude for Kei's continued writing and desire to hear more from him, her recovery from an illness, hope to see each other soon, and the recent weather in Minidoka.",
