Torao Oshio, new Japanese vice-consul here, arrived in Honolulu last night at 9:10 from Tokyo by Japan Air Lines, accompanied by his wife, Miyoko, and 8-year-old daughter, Chitaru. Oshio will succeed Kazuo Nakajima, who is leaving for Japan with his family on Nov. 8 for reassignment. After attending Chuo University in Tokyo, Oshio joined the Japanese foreign office in 1936. At the end of World War II, he was with the Japanese embassy in Harbin and was imprisoned by the Reds for two years before returning to Japan.
