They married in 1941.  After Pearl Harbor they, along with Henri's sister Helen, and Tomoye's father Tomoyuki Nozawa and sister Martha Nozawa, were incarcerated at Topaz Camp.  Their childen, Masako and Norman were born in camp.  Martha Nozawa left Topaz to attend college at Washington University in St. Louis and then the University of Minnesota.  Henri returned to San Francisco in 1945, while Tomoye stayed in camp until the birth of Norman.  After returning to San Francisco, the Takahashis initially organized care packages for friends and relatives in post-war Japan, and soon began importing Japanese household goods to the U.S.  Takahashi imports eventually opened in three locations in the San Francisco area.","relatedmaterial":"ddr-densho-422, Henri and Tomoye (Nozawa) Takahashi Personal papers, 1946-2002\r\nddr-densho-423, Nozawa Family papers\r\nddr-densho-424, Takahashi Trading Company papers\r\nddr-densho-425, Masako Takahashi Personal papers\r\nddr-densho-426, Henri and Tomoye (Nozawa) Takahashi Photograph Collection\r\nddr-densho-434, William Shinji Tsuchida Collection","search_hidden":"","download_large":"ddr-densho-410-491-mezzanine-994bb6eb66-a.jpg"}
