Takasugi, and S. Muraoka authored a resettlement plan for Japanese American incarcerees entitled \"Cooperative Colonization\". This plan called for a large scale resettlement of Japanese Americans on 100,000 acres of farm land with help from the government in order to purchase farm equipment and other needed items. This plan was discussed by government officials via correspondence and eventually agreed that the plan was not viable for many reasons but a large one being the sentiments of the broader American public not being behind such a community.\\n\\nOfficials believed a smaller resettlement plan of only 10-15 families was possible and began to focus on land around Brownsville, Texas after several failed proposals of other areas in the country.","breadcrumbs":[{"id":"ddr-densho-379","model":"collection","idpart":"cid","label":"379","api_url":"https://ddr.densho.org/api/0.2/ddr-densho-379/","url":"https://ddr.densho.org/ddr-densho-379/"},{"id":"ddr-densho-379-746","model":"entity","idpart":"eid","label":"746","api_url":"https://ddr.densho.org/api/0.2/ddr-densho-379-746/","url":"https://ddr.densho.org/ddr-densho-379-746/"}],"_fields":["id","record_created","record_lastmod","status","public","sort","title","description","creation","location","creators","language","genre","format","extent","contributor","alternate_id","digitize_person","digitize_organization","digitize_date","credit","rights","rights_statement","topics","persons","facility","chronology","geography","parent","signature_id"],"record_created":"2023-06-06T11:20:30","record_lastmod":"2023-06-20T05:44:41","status":"completed","sort":1,"creation":"1944-1945","location":"McGehee, Arkansas","creators":[{"namepart":"Chimata Sumida","nr_id":"88922/nr007bb08","role":"author"},{"namepart":"Takasugi, T.","role":"author"},{"namepart":"Muraoka, S.","role":"author"}],"language":["eng"],"genre":"misc_document","format":"doc","extent":"8.5W x 11H","contributor":"Densho","digitize_person":"Merryman, Micah","digitize_organization":"Densho","digitize_date":"1/24/2022","credit":"Courtesy of Sumida Family Collection, Densho","rights":"cc","topics":[{"id":"345","term":"Industry and employment -- Agriculture -- Farming"},{"id":"104","term":"World War II -- Leaving camp -- \"Resettlement\""}],"facility":[{"id":"9","term":"Rohwer"}],"search_hidden":"Chimata Sumida author 88922nr007bb08\nTakasugi, T. author \nMuraoka, S. author","topics_id":["345","104"],"facility_id":["9"],"download_large":"ddr-densho-379-746-mezzanine-41cb474223-a.jpg"}
