    "bioghist": "Akiko (Kato) Kurose was born in 1925 in Seattle, Washington to Harutoshi and Murako Kato. She had three siblings; an older brother as well as an older sister, Fusaye, and a younger sister, Suma. During World War II, Akiko Kurose was incarcerated at Puyallup Assembly Center, Washington, and Minidoka concentration camp, Idaho. After the war, Akiko Kato attended Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Akiko married Junelow Kurose in 1948 and the couple moved to Chicago for two years. They moved back to Seattle in 1950 with their first son who was six months old at the time. Akiko and Junelow Kurose raised six children. Akiko was a school teacher and was and was a longtime civil rights activist, educator, and pacifist. Mrs. Kurose passed away on May 24, 1998.",
