It was founded in 1890 and was famous for its moonlit parties, regattas, and cruising events. The clubhouse, seen here at the end of the pier, was an elaborate Victorian design, the main floor was reserved for dancing and the second floor was the resident of the club manager. The San Francisco Chronicle declared the clubhouse to be the finest of its type on the entire Pacific Coast.
