Black and white photographic print of Miyajima taken from above with tree branches in foreground. This photo taken en route from Shiuko Sakai’s childhood Miyajima residence to her aunt’s home. Shiuko Sakai lived in Miyajima in 1930 at age seven. To walk to her aunt’s house she would cross a bridge near her home, climb up a hill, and then descend to her aunt's house. Shiuko Sakai's family home had a shop on first floor that sold souvenirs to tourists, and living quarters on the second floor. The living quarters had tatami mat flooring, and at night they would take out futon bedding from closet and slept on the floor.
