Caption on reverse [translation]: "Kawabata goes to South Seas to explore 'Pacific Ocean.' (Tokyo) September 14, 1934. After releasing two great works consecutively, Ryushi Kawabata now dedicates himself to his new work, "Pacific." He has been planning to go around the Pacific next February, but because of his enthusiasm he hurried to leave on the 15th from Yokohama. The photo is Mr. Kawabata getting ready for the trip."
