Caption on front [translation]: "Painter Saburosuke Okada. He comes from Saga prefecture and was born in 1869. After he studied in Nishogogakusha and Toyo Eiwa School, he entered Dazaikan to study foreign books. He started to follow Kyoteru Kuroda, Keiichi Kume, and others to study oil painting in 1895. He became a professor of Tokyo Art School and studied in France. He is a member of [?] of the Imperial room and a member of the Imperial Academy of Art."
