Caption on reverse [translation]: "Lloyd George Celebrates His 70th Birthday. British elder statesman Lloyd George, who served as the prime minister of a coalition government during the World War and made valiant efforts on behalf of his homeland against an unyielding France as the representative of the British Empire at the Versailles Peace Conference against Germany, celebrated his 70th birthday on January 17 at his temporary home Brynawelon in Wales. Having withdrawn from the frontline of the world and living comfortably in rural Wales, few gathered to celebrate his birthday, making things seem a little lonely compared to his glory days. Photograph: Lloyd George cutting his birthday cake, surrounded by his family."
