    "title": "Wedding portrait",
    "description": "Caption by Homer Yasui: \"Wedding portrait of Ryusuke Watanabe, from Kanagawa ken, and his bride, Sen Tokuda, who was born in Tokyo. Ryusuke came to the U.S. in 1907 and Sen came in 1922 It's been said that Ryusuke was one of the four Issei men who were arrested by the FBI and sent to an internment camp, but I've never been able to verify that...The story goes that the Sheriff, who was then John Sheldrake, in the company of a couple FBI men, found a dynamite cap in a shed on the Watanabe property. And since by December 29, 1941, all Nikkei had been ordered to turn in all contraband--which had been defined as all explosives, firearms, signalling devices, short wave radio receivers, binoculars and cameras--on the basis of what probably was an overlooked detonator, Ryusuke was said to have been picked up. The other Issei men from Hood River known to have been arrested were: Masuo Yasui, Tomeshichi Akiyama, and Otoichi Nishimoto.\"",
